In response to: U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Welcomes Americans Looking to Answer President’s Call to Service

I think we need to Send a message to your CINC that if your going to ask Americans to volunteer their time, then he should go on the airwaves and tell people to volunteer their time with the Coast Guard Auxiliary and maybe even steer some money in our way as well.

In response to: It's No Joke - False Distress Calls Cost All Of Us

ViSalus [Visitor] · http://www.visaluslifestyle.tv
Useful info, The U.S. Coast Guard, as a matter of both law and policy, does not seek to recover the costs associated with search-and-rescue from the recipients of those services.

Nice BLOG. What they don't realize though is that a hoax call could potentially divert valuable search assets from an actual distress case, and put rescuers unnecessarily in harms way while responding to the false call.

Randall Akins [Visitor] · http://www.b951fm.com
I want to let you know again that my brother and I, a
member of Flotilla 1-9 in Panama City Beach, Florida,
have a radio show which is broadcast live on the internet at www.b951fm.com on Satureday nights from 1900 to 2200.
As an Aux member, I record spots for the CG and Aux which
are played on our show and also several times a day and
can be heard around the world. I appreciate the press releaser which you send out and have used almost every one of them.
If there is a special spot I can do for you let me know.

The release leaves the reader without any indication of what is being requested as "support". Is it $,time, vessels?

In response to: U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Ham Radio Operators “Show Off”

Tony Kobylski [Visitor]
I am an Auxilarist in D5-SR, Flotilla 13-07 Cox Point Maryland. I have been an amateur radio operator since 1984. I am also the FSO-Comms for my flotilla and Auxcom qualified. Field day is a great event and gets a lot of publicity in the media. On October 18 there will be special event amateur radio stations operating to celebrate the birthday of the Auxiliary itself. This is another demonstration of the power of Amateur Radio to communicate all over the world and talk up the Auxiliary. I will be looking for your station on field day. 73, Tony Kobylski Baltimore, MD KA3OUT
