Auxiliary Celebrates its 70th Anniversary

Coast Guard Commandant Admiral Thad Allen presented the Auxiliary a Coast Guard Outstanding Unit Commendation as part of the Coast Guard's celebration of the anniversary. In recognition of the Auxiliary's 70 years of outstanding service, President Obama issued a congratulatory letter to the Auxiliary. The award ceremony and President Obama's letter are now on SITREP, the Auxiliary's National e-magazine.

    The Boating Department is seeking a Liaison Branch Chief to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). Duties include continued implementation of our MOU with USACE. Applicant must communicate well, verbally and in writing, and be proficient in emailing with attachments including Word documents. Prior experience with USACE highly desirable.     We are looking for aomeone who can do all multi-media. The main focus will be on recruiting and retention. We will be using all forms of electronic media to educate our members, recruit new members, and promote the programs of the National Personnel Department. We want to start webcasts, and add business and social sites such as LINKEDIN,YOUTUBE,FACEBOOK and Twitter, as media sources to drive recruitment.     7 Knowledge of multiple browsers and understanding of differences.
    7 Understanding of and experience in coding HTML pages, aligns with W3C XHTML standards
    7 Working knowledge of and hands on experience of a web development package, such as, Dreamweaver,
       M/S Web   Expressions, or M/S FrontPage and able to FTP files.
    7 Working knowledge of photo manipulation software, such as, Photoshop Elements, GIMP, or Digital Photoshop professional.
    7 It would also be helpful to have coded in JavaScript and have a basic understanding of the DOM.
    7 PHP would also be helpful.

    7 Able to make a time commitment and communicate frequently by email

    HELP WANTED
    Looking for experienced Instructors.
    A great opportunity for you to share your Leadership expertise and experiences with your fellow Auxiliarists.
    You must have a minimum of at least 2 years experience as Auxiliary IT, with a minimum of 25 hours of documented time in AUXDATA.
    Be vetted by District Commodore and DSO/MT.
    Have completed the Leadership courses of CGLAMS or AUXLAMS and AMLOC.
    Willing to complete the 5 day TEAM LEADER/FACILITATOR course at NACON, in August 2009, as part of requirements.
    Must be able to travel.
    Be able to pass inspection for correctness, neatness of the Tropical Blue uniform.
    Must have served a minimum of one term as a Flotilla Commander, (AUXLAMS), or past Division Commander, (AMLOC) preferred.

    Date: 4/27/2009 17:53 The Prevention (M) Department has an opening for a Branch Assistant Information Services. This position serves as a backup to the Departments webmaster, assisting in design and maintenance of the Departments website, weekly monitoring of over 3,000 links contained in the website and course materials and other tasks as assigned. Technical proficiency in web design and ability to follow directions are absolutely required. In addition, participation in Prevention Department programs is highly desired.
